Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions
My equine has a veterinarian prescribed diet. Can their needs be accommodated?
We understand every horse is different. Nutritional requirements are affected by age, breed, discipline, and individual characteristics. In today’s large boarding and training operations, the individual horse’s needs are often sacrificed in the name of convenience and/or cost. Outside of watering the horses, their nutrition is the next most important service our facility can provide – it is not an area where we are willing to take shortcuts! We can work with your vet and nutritionist to ensure that your equine is receiving a proper balanced nutritional program.
How much turnout time does my horse get?
Horses are turned out in well-maintained group turnouts (2-4 horses) 24/7 weather permitting, unless otherwise specified by the owner. We try to keep the horses out as much as possible to allow your horse to be a horse!
How often does my horse get groomed and looked over?
Grooming is done at least 1-2 times a week depending on the needs of the horse and the weather. This includes picking feet, brushing down body, mane and tail, and sunscreen (as needed). We are proactive with the flies by providing ClariFly® in their feed to prevent fly issues, but we also apply fly boots, fly spray and fly masks (provided by owner) as needed by the equine.
Do you have a trainer on site?
There is no specific trainer on site, we are open to having outside trainers come to give you lessons or provide training for your horse if that is what you desire! We try to maintain a learning and growing atmosphere and this allows you to make decisions that are best for you and your horse.
What are the security measures you have in place?
We value you and your horse's safety as much as our own, so we make night checks every day as well as require a code to get into the completely fenced in facility. We also have a code on the community tack room to access it. The Tinney's also live on site so rest assured that someone will almost always be on site 24/7.
What do you do in case of emergencies?
I will contact you or your preferred veterinarian in our boarding contract (unless otherwise specified) to get your horse looked at ASAP whether that be the vet coming out to us or us hauling your horse for you to the vet. This is done at no extra charge if the vet is within the BCS area.
What if I can't be there for the farrier or vet?
If you are unavailable for regular services due to your work time constraints or other reasons such as doctor appointments and health concerns, Horse Broke Farms staff will be present for that call if you give 24 hour notice to he farm call. For regular vet checks, Marla will trailer your horse to your local vet in groups if you desire.
